Demag CC 3800-1 Crawler Crane Dismantles Viaduc De La Siagne Railroad Bridge Near Cannes →

Crane service provider Vernazza Autogru only had 130 hours to dismantle an old railroad bridge, owned by French railway company SNCF, in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, west of Cannes. In order to tackle the job, in which time was of the essence, the company relied on its brand new Demag CC 3800-1 crawler crane, which was in turn assisted by a Demag AC 120 all-terrain crane. Although the Demag AC 120 had been in use at Vernazza for quite a while already and was used to set up and disassemble the crawler crane and its Superlift system for the job, it was the first time ever that the team would be using its Demag CC 3800-1 crawler crane.  Click for more...

SEATTLE (AP) — Human error may have caused a crane collapse that killed four people and injured four others over the weekend, experts said April 28. Based on videos of the collapse, they said it appears workers who were disassembling the construction crane had prematurely removed pins securing the sections of the crane's mast to each other, and that could explain why the crane toppled in relatively minor wind gusts.  Click for more...

'Terrifying': Crane Falls on Busy Seattle Street, Killing Four →

A construction crane fell from a building on Google's new Seattle campus during a storm that brought strong wind gusts, crashing down onto one of the city's busiest streets and killing four people. One female and three males had died by the time firefighters had arrived the afternoon of April 27, Fire Chief Harold Scoggins said. Elliott Equipment Company's E120 is an ANSI A92.2 compliant aerial work platform that features 120 ft. (36.5 m) of working height, 80 ft. (24.3 m) of side reach, 600-lb. (272 kg) platform capacity and up to 1,500 lbs. (680 kg) of platform mounted jib winch capacity. The 105 ft. Full Range of Manitowoc Services Displayed at bauma 2019 →

Manitowoc has released two apps that help crane owners on the job site. The first is the "Manitowoc Diagnostic Code App" that helps users diagnose technical issues with their cranes. In the past, when cranes had technical issues, Manitowoc customers had no way to interpret the diagnostic codes that would appear on the main display of the crane's cab. Specialized technicians would have to be called to the job site with proprietary equipment, and any time spent waiting affected the project schedule.  Click for more...
