Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau (CICB)

In 1969, Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau (CICB), began in Orlando, Fla., as the first independent agency accredited by the U.S. Department of Labor to provide third party inspection and certification of equipment for the crane and lifting equipment industry. Over the next 30 years, inspection activities remained the primary focus of CICB's business along with training of other inspectors and crane operators.

"In 2000, we refocused CICB's direction so that its primary activities were more centered on safety training for the crane and lifting industry," said Craig Epperson, CICB's CEO. "Shortly thereafter, a second training facility in Houston, Texas, was opened along with operations outside of the U.S."

Since 2000, CICB has been a preferred provider for safety training for the construction, manufacturing, petrochemical, aerospace and mining industries; including governmental agencies, the armed forces and their contractors. To date, CICB has trained more than 50,000 crane operators, signal persons, riggers, lift directors and supervisors in safe lifting operations across the United States and in the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Ghana, West Africa and the Middle East.

"Our clients have a choice," said Epperson, "and they choose CICB for our high level of professionalism, unparalleled industry performance and supreme customer service when providing safety training, certification, or inspections to the crane and lifting industry."

CICB's professionally trained instructors and subject matter experts are not only NCCCO Accredited Practical Examiners, but are NCCCO Certified as mobile, overhead and articulating crane operators, riggers, signalpersons, lift directors and crane inspectors. CICB instructors have been awarded the prestigious Top Trainer Award in 2017, 2016, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2019.

"The success of any organization is, in large measure, dependent on the quality and commitment of its employees. CICB has, from the start, been fortunate to have had and continues to have dedicated, talented and hard-working people throughout the company. Without those employees, we could not have grown to the international company that we are today," said Karla Cirizola, CICB's director of operations. "It has been my good fortune to have been part of this company for 19 plus years."
