Manitowoc will display three of its strongest new offerings for the utilities market at The Utility Expo this year: the National Crane NBT60XL boom truck; the NBT45-2, a compact 45-ton model from its new NBT40-2 Series; and the Grove GHC110 telescoping crawler crane that just launched in July. As part of New York State Canal Corporation's emergency repair program, construction is complete on Erie Canal Lock E-7 in Niskayuna, N.Y. Maintenance and repairs were finalized prior to May 15, 2021, when navigation season of the Erie Canal begins. D.A. Collins Companies (D.A. Collins) of Wilton, N.Y., used its 200-ton (181 t) Link-Belt 248 HYLAB 5 lattice crawler crane and 275-ton (250 t) Link-Belt ATC-3275 all-terrain crane for refurbishment of the lock's key components — valves, gates, electrical and concrete basin. With the launch of the Grove GHC110, Manitowoc has added a crucial machine to the top end of its growing telescoping crawler crane range. Link-Belt Cranes has announced production of a new 55-ton (45-t) TCC-550 will begin soon, with shipments set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021. The TCC-550 follows a long line of product improvements and introductions in Link-Belt Cranes' telescopic crawler crane family. HEC Students Engage in MLC100-1 Assembly Safety Class →

Heavy Equipment Colleges of America (HEC) students in Stonecrest, Ga., took part in an assembly safety class on May 19 that used a new Manitowoc MLC100-1. Students spent the day watching the unit being assembled and tested at the school's field-testing site shortly after HEC took delivery of the new crane. Sixteen HEC instructors and staff conducted the operation, which focused on safety measures to ensure the proper assembly of the 110 ton lattice-boom crawler crane. Click for more...

Poinciana, Fla., a suburban community near Kissimmee, is one the fastest-growing areas in the state's central region. In 2015, a new two-lane bridge was constructed over the Reedy Creek Swamp to provide another connection between Poinciana and nearby communities and highways. Construction is under way at The Stack, a 16-story project in Deep Ellum, a historic downtown Dallas neighborhood. Derr and Isbell Construction LLC of Euless, Texas, has a long company history of lifting structural steel and precast for projects across the country, and was awarded the contract for the 474,000 sq. ft. (44 036 sq. m) mixed-use development. The company rented a Link-Belt 140-ton (127-t) TCC-1400 telescopic crawler crane from HOLT Equipment of Irving, Texas, to place more than 250 precast panels on the bottom 10 stories of the new building. General contractor Messer Construction of Cincinnati, Ohio, was awarded the contract for a new $27 million Andrew J. Brady ICON Music Center to be built in downtown Cincinnati. When completed, the music center will have an indoor capacity of 4,500 and outdoor seating for 8,000. The ALL Family of Companies is adding nine new Link-Belt cranes to its fleet. The purchase comes on the heels of a previous 16-unit Link-Belt package announced earlier in the year.
