The ALL Family of Companies has strengthened its fleet by adding two versatile and popular Manitowoc MLC650 crawler cranes, as well as four new Grove GRT8100 rough terrain cranes. The large capacity MLC650 has a 717 USt capacity and features the Variable Position Counterweight (VPC) technology that automatically positions the crane's counterweight to match lifting demands. Port Orders Four New Cranes as Part of $320M Expansion →

The Port of Virginia signed a contract allowing for the purchase of four new ship-to-shore cranes that are part of the $320 million expansion of Virginia International Gateway (VIG). The Virginia Port Authority Board of Commissioners in its July meeting approved a spending package of $44.8 million that covers the cost of the cranes, parts, their delivery to Virginia from China and installation at VIG. Liebherr USA, Co. continues its expansion in the U.S., with the opening of its newest location in Lodi, Calif., to better service customers in the western region. The Lodi facility operations will include sales, service and repair of new and used mobile, duty cycle and lift version crawler cranes, as well as piling and drilling rigs. Manitowoc Crawler Cranes Handle Critical Lifts on New Stadium Complex →

Construction of a new $524 million, multi-purpose arena is under way in downtown Milwaukee, and a fleet of Manitowoc crawler cranes is handling its most crucial lifting work. Dubbed the Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center, the arena will replace the aging Bradley Center and serve as the new home of the Milwaukee Bucks. Mortenson Construction is managing the lifting plans on the job site, and the company has employed a number of Manitowoc crawler cranes since construction started in November of 2016. New York County Denies Company's Request to Waive Sales Tax on Crane Purchases →

Ulster County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) members have turned down a request by 2-4 Kieffer Lane LLC to waive $975,200 in sales taxes on the purchase of $12.9 million for eight large cranes. The decision was made during an agency board meeting on Aug. 9, when officials said the company did not offer a unique retail service for the county. “After thoroughly reviewing the application and an amended application and after holding two public hearings, the IDA determined that the cranes to be purchased by 2-4 Kieffer Lane LC are not sufficiently unique or different from the cranes provided by an existing crane company in Ulster County,” he said. The Texas Department of Public Safety was called out to a two-vehicle crash around 4 p.m. Aug. 2 on Highway 87 just south of 82nd Street in Lubbock, TX. A crane truck was southbound on U.S. 87 and a Dodge Magnum passenger car was merging off the service road onto U.S. 87DPS says the car failed to yield right of way as it was merging. A man barricaded himself on the roof of a building under construction in Downtown Hollywood, Fla. and began throwing debris to the ground, Sunday morning, authorities said. According to Hollywood Police, they began to receive calls from concerned residents that someone was yelling in Hollywood's Young Circle, Sunday, at around 3:45 a.m. Responding officers made contact with 27-year-old Travis Bernard Bray, who had climbed inside a 300-foot, 25-story crane at the new building, located near Federal Highway, across from the Radius condominium.
