Manitowoc Crane Group Holds Expo in Shady Grove, Draws Big Crowd →

The Manitowoc Crane Group held a Product Expo for distributors and customers Sept. 21 to 24. The exhibition took place at the Shady Grove, PA, facility demonstration area and featured a variety of products. The products on display included: Manitowoc lattice boom crawler cranes; Grove mobile hydraulic cranes, National Crane boom truck cranes; Potain tower cranes; and Manlift aerial work platforms. The expo marked the first time products from all divisions of the Manitowoc Crane Group had been displayed in the United States since the acquisition of Grove in 2002 and did so in a big way with more than 30 products. There were three units on display from Manitowoc Cranes: the 275 ton (250 t) 999; the 150 ton (136 t) 555; and the 132 ton (120 t) 1015 duty-cycle crane. Click for more...

Jim Mackinson, owner of Mackinson Crane, Middlesex, NJ, recently added a new National telescoping crane to its growing fleet. Mackinson purchased a Series 1400 crane from Mike Johnson, district manager, of Garden State Engine & Equipment Co. (GSE&E), Somerville, NJ. The 33-ton (30 t) crane has a 127-ft. (39 m) five-section boom, which allows the operator to perform lifts without the use of a jib. This reduces setup time and improves efficiency. Contractors are upgrading Interstate 4 in central Florida, section-by-section, reshaping the future of the heavily-traveled highway. The 20 or so projects planned, completed or in progress along its 140-mi. (224 km) length carry a total price tag of approximately $1 billion in construction costs. Funding comes partly from an economic stimulus program pushed through the legislature by Gov. Jeb Bush. The general task given an array of contractors is to widen Interstate 4 to six lanes in some places, to eight lanes in other sections and to prepare some stretches of the corridor for an ultimate width of 10 lanes.
