The contract for SC Route 9 Bridge over the Catawba River in Lancaster, S.C., requires the placement of 170-ft. bulb-tee beams weighing 200,000 lb. (90 718 kg). The beams are some of the longest ever erected in the state of South Carolina. ALL Crane Sells Its First Kobelco Crane Under New Dealer Agreement →

The ALL Family of Companies has made its inaugural sale as an authorized Kobelco dealer. Kelley Steel Erectors purchased a Kobelco CK800G-2 crawler crane from ALL and took delivery of the machine during a Dec. 21 key ceremony at the ALL Crane yard in Cleveland, Ohio. The sale of the new Kobelco unit was one of several on which the two companies plan to collaborate. Cleveland-based Kelley Steel Erectors, which will celebrate 60 years in business in 2018, serves customers throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida, primarily in the erection of structural steel framing for major construction projects and the rental of cranes through its Kelley Equipment Company of Clearwater, Fla. OSHA Announces New Deadlines →

Recently, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced new dates for two rules affecting the demolition industry. The first is the deadline for submittal of injury and illness data for 2016, and the second is the deadline for crane and derricks certification. To allow affected employers additional time to become familiar with a new electronic reporting system launched in August, OSHA has extended the date by which employers must electronically report injury and illness data for 2016 through the Injury Tracking Application (ITA) to Dec. For its first job, it has been rented by American Iron Inc. to build the 2100-ton structural steel, $120 million addition to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania located in West Chester, Pa. Empire Crane Company representative Justin Melvin has sold a 2017 Tadano Mantis GTC1200 to ACK Marine & General Contracting LLC in Quincy, Mass. “We chose the 2017 Tadano Mantis GTC1200 because it fits the niche that we work in,” Vice President and Chief Estimator John McNulty said.
