RTL Equipment Inc. has acquired heavy equipment dealership THECO Inc., with locations in Big Lake and Brainerd, Minn.

The purchase creates one of the most diversified construction equipment dealerships in Iowa and Minnesota, with increased sales territories, equipment inventory, service technicians and service locations that will provide support to customers across the Midwest.

The acquisition of THECO gives customers in Minnesota immediate access to RTL's crane service and inventory that includes rough terrain, all terrain and crawler cranes from Tadano, Kobelco, Demag and Mantis. The new locations in Minnesota move RTL's service technicians, inventory and expertise closer to field operations, which improves the parts and service experiences for customers in the region.

For aggregate customers in Iowa, the acquisition of THECO brings access to Powerscreen's equipment. RTL's locations in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, Iowa, offer quarry, custom crushing, infrastructure and material processing customers in Iowa and southern Minnesota convenient access to parts, service and expertise.

"We have closed the distance between our customers' field operations and our diversified equipment inventory, service locations and technicians. We are excited about the benefits that this consolidation brings to our customers and team in Iowa and Minnesota," said David Kutcher, president of RTL Equipment.

Both Minnesota locations will continue to be dealers of Bobcat compact equipment and attachments, with the Big Lake location serving Sherburne County and the northwest portion of the Twin Cities. The Brainerd location will continue to serve Crow Wing County and operate as Bobcat of Brainerd. The Brainerd and Big Lake locations also will be service locations for cranes, aggregate and Doosan equipment.

RTL remains the longest-running Doosan dealer in the United States and the combined enterprise becomes one of the top five Doosan dealers in North America. The acquisition is a platform for growth and additional representation for Doosan products in Iowa and the entire region from the northern Twin Cities through Brainerd, Minn.

Following the acquisition, RTL will have four regional offices spanning Iowa and Minnesota, with 52 employees, 20 service technicians, 16 service trucks and 13 service bays. Service locations are in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Des Moines, Iowa, Big Lake, Minn., and Brainerd, Minn.
