Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental, a member of the ALL Family of Companies, held its 17th Annual Golf Outing on Aug. 10. More than 125 people participated, including Dawes customers, equipment manufacturers, and Dawes and ALL management. Work Begins on Largest Contract in DelDOT History →
Work began this fall on a project involving the largest single contract in the history of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT). The department has been in operation for more than 90 years. Bids were first opened for the project, which involves the new Indian River Inlet Bridge, in February 2008. Manitowoc Cranes has dedicated a new Manitowoc Crane Care parts distribution center in Jeffersonville, Ind. The new 141,000 sq. ft. facility will consolidate parts distribution functions previously managed from warehouses in Manitowoc, Wis., Shady Grove, Pa., and Rockford, Ill. Badger Equipment of Winona, Minn., a division of Manitex International, re-entered the crane market this year with 20 and 30 ton (18 and 27.2 t) cab-down style rough terrain cranes. Badger Equipment offers the CD4430 30-ton capacity, the CD4430R 30-ton capacity with high rail gear and the CD4420 20-ton capacity cranes. HOLT Crane & Equipment conducted its first open house at the new facility, located at 7010 North Loop East, Houston, Sept. 22. The event celebrated the partnership of the company and Link-Belt Crane. The location in Houston is on seven acres with 55,000 sq. ft. under roof. Even though the weather did not co-operate, with torrential rains, more than 160 people attended. For more than a decade, a portion of Route 101 in Mendocino County, Calif., has experienced regular winter road delays due to landslides and slipouts. These often five-hour plus delays have affected travelers and the transportation of goods and services into the area. Embarking on the largest investment in Ohio’s transportation system in state history, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is officially kicking off its 2009 construction season, highlighted by multi-modal investments across Ohio and more than 650 roadway and bridge projects in each region of the state. With a total investment of more than $1.9 billion in construction projects, ODOT’s 2009 construction season includes at least 36 interstate projects, 125 bridge projects, and dozens of multi-modal investments — ranging from improvements on railroads, at airports, and along the waterways. The Ohio Department of Transportation and the City of Columbus have been wrangling with plans to widen I-70/I-71, add gateway ramps to better configure splits to other freeways, and to build a minimum of six “caps” over the interstate for several years. Commonly known as “the downtown split,” the I-70/I-71 South Innerbelt Corridor Project is “a multi-faceted plan to reduce congestion in downtown Columbus along the convergence of Interstate 70 and Interstate 71,” according to an ODOT press release. Peter M. Ferguson, 68 of North East, Md., died April 27, 2009, in Christina Hospital, Newark, Del. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Sept. 13, 1940, he was the son of Helen (Kubiak) Ferguson of Mt. Holly, N.J., and the late Paul Ferguson. He was the beloved husband of Audrey A. Ferguson of North East, Md. Mr. Ferguson worked for Case Heavy Equipment in Racine, Wis., for more than 40 years.
