Embarking on the largest investment in Ohio’s transportation system in state history, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is officially kicking off its 2009 construction season, highlighted by multi-modal investments across Ohio and more than 650 roadway and bridge projects in each region of the state. I-70/I-71 Caps in Downtown Columbus Remain in Budget →

The Ohio Department of Transportation and the City of Columbus have been wrangling with plans to widen I-70/I-71, add gateway ramps to better configure splits to other freeways, and to build a minimum of six “caps” over the interstate for several years. Commonly known as “the downtown split,” the I-70/I-71 South Innerbelt Corridor Project is “a multi-faceted plan to reduce congestion in downtown Columbus along the convergence of Interstate 70 and Interstate 71,” according to an ODOT press release.  Click for more...

Jones Crawler Cranes Ltd., of Shaftesbury, Dorset, United Kingdom, purchased the first Link-Belt 75 ton (70 t) TCC-750 telescopic crawler crane at SED, May 13, 2009. Jones Crawler Cranes, owned by Mark and Alexandra Jones, specializes in the rental of hydraulic crawler cranes throughout Southern England. Peter M. Ferguson, 68 of North East, Md., died April 27, 2009, in Christina Hospital, Newark, Del. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Sept. 13, 1940, he was the son of Helen (Kubiak) Ferguson of Mt. Holly, N.J., and the late Paul Ferguson. He was the beloved husband of Audrey A. Ferguson of North East, Md. Mr. Ferguson worked for Case Heavy Equipment in Racine, Wis., for more than 40 years. Cure Coming for Atlanta’s 14th Street Bridge Traffic Ills →

A congested major intersection in downtown Atlanta that has proven to be a headache for commuters and travelers throughout the area will soon be reconstructed. The reconstruction is now past its halfway point and heading toward the finish line. Known as the 14th Street Bridge Improvement Project, the $88.5 million work was designed to alleviate traffic bottlenecks in the midtown. At that pace, the Indianapolis-based company would need to move enough dirt to fill nearly 1,100 Goodyear blimps, or the equivalent of about four blimp-sized loads of dirt per day.
